Personalized Medicine Through Compounding

Tailored treatments that meet individual patient needs when standard medications aren’t enough.

Compounding is the art and science of customizing medications to meet the unique needs of individual patients. Unlike mass-produced drugs, compounded medications are tailored in strength, form, and ingredients—whether it’s removing allergens, creating child-friendly liquids, or offering alternative delivery methods like creams or lozenges.

This personalized approach bridges the gap when standard treatments fall short. With precise techniques and a deep understanding of pharmaceutical science, compounding ensures patients receive the right medication, in the right form, at the right dose—every time.

  • Bio-Identical Harmones

Bio-identical hormones are compounds that are chemically identical to the hormones naturally produced by the human body, such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Derived from plant sources like soy or yams, they are designed to mimic the exact molecular structure of endogenous hormones, allowing them to function in the body just like the real thing. Bio-identical hormone therapy (BHRT) is often used to treat symptoms of hormonal imbalances related to menopause, perimenopause, and andropause, including hot flashes, mood swings, low libido, fatigue, and sleep disturbances.

Bio-identical hormones include Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2), Estriol (E3), Progesterone, Testosterone, Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and Pregnenolone. Our pharmacists work together with patients and prescribers to provide customized bio-identical hormone replacement therapy that provides the needed hormones in the most appropriate strength and dosage form to meet each individual’s specific needs.

  • Dentistry

Dentistry compounding is a specialized branch of pharmaceutical compounding that focuses on creating customized medications to meet the unique needs of dental patients. This practice allows pharmacists to work closely with dentists to formulate medications in specific strengths, dosages, and delivery forms that are not commercially available. It is particularly useful for patients who experience challenges with standard dental treatments, such as allergies to preservatives, difficulty swallowing pills, or anxiety about dental procedures.

Compounded dental medications may include topical anesthetics, anti-inflammatory rinses, medicated gels, mouthwashes, or custom-flavored treatments for children. They can also be used to address issues like dry mouth, oral ulcers, or pain management following dental surgery. By offering precise, patient-specific solutions, dentistry compounding enhances patient comfort and treatment outcomes, making it an invaluable option for personalized dental care.

  • Discontinued Medications

Discontinued medications compounding offers a valuable solution for patients who rely on treatments that are no longer commercially available. When a manufacturer stops producing a medication due to low demand, supply issues, or business decisions, patients may be left without essential therapies. Compounding pharmacists can recreate these discontinued medications by sourcing the necessary active ingredients and preparing them in the required dosage and form. This ensures continuity of care for patients who have found specific medications effective and may not respond well to alternatives. By restoring access to vital treatments, compounding plays a critical role in bridging gaps in the healthcare system.

  • Men's Health Compounding

Men’s health compounding focuses on creating customized medications to address a variety of male-specific health concerns, including hormone imbalances, sexual health, hair loss, and prostate issues. Compounded therapies can be tailored to suit an individual’s unique physiological needs, offering precise dosages, alternative delivery methods, and combinations that are not available through commercial medications. For instance, compounded testosterone therapies may help treat symptoms of low testosterone—such as fatigue, decreased libido, and mood changes—while other formulations can support erectile dysfunction or manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). By offering a personalized approach, men’s health compounding empowers men to take control of their wellness with treatments that are both effective and well-tolerated.

  • Veterinary Compounding

Veterinary compounding involves the preparation of customized medications for animals when commercially available treatments are unsuitable or unavailable. Pets and animals, like humans, can have unique medical needs—such as difficulty swallowing pills, allergies to certain ingredients, or the need for specific dosages based on species, size, or condition. Compounding allows pharmacists to create pet-friendly formulations in various forms, including flavored liquids, chewable treats, transdermal gels, and more. Whether treating a dog, cat, horse, or exotic pet, veterinary compounding ensures animals receive the most effective and manageable treatment, improving compliance and overall health outcomes.

  • Women's Health Compounding

Women’s health compounding offers personalized medication solutions to support a wide range of conditions specific to women, including hormonal imbalances, menopause symptoms, fertility challenges, vaginal health, and more. By customizing therapies such as bio-identical hormone replacement, compounded progesterone, or topical treatments for vaginal dryness and infections, pharmacists can tailor medications to a woman’s individual hormonal profile and health needs. These formulations can be created in various forms—creams, capsules, suppositories, or troches—for optimal comfort and effectiveness. With a focus on individualized care, women’s health compounding empowers women to manage their health with treatments that are both precise and compassionate.

  • Maternity Medications

Maternity compounding provides safe and customized medication options for women during pregnancy and postpartum, when standard treatments may not be suitable. Expectant and new mothers often face unique challenges such as nausea, acid reflux, hemorrhoids, or hormonal imbalances, which require careful management to protect both mother and baby. Compounded medications can be tailored to avoid harmful ingredients, adjust dosages, and provide alternative delivery methods like suppositories, creams, or lozenges. Whether managing morning sickness or supporting recovery after childbirth, maternity compounding ensures personalized, gentle, and effective care during this important stage of life.

  • Pediatric Compounding

Pediatric compounding focuses on creating customized medications for children, addressing challenges such as taste preferences, swallowing difficulties, allergies, or the need for precise dosing based on age and weight. Many commercially available medications are not formulated with children in mind, making it difficult for parents to administer treatments effectively. Compounding pharmacists can prepare child-friendly formulations—such as flavored liquids, gummies, creams, or dissolvable tablets—that make taking medicine easier and more pleasant. By tailoring medications to each child’s unique needs, pediatric compounding helps improve compliance, safety, and health outcomes for young patients.

  • Pain Management

Pain management compounding offers personalized treatment options for individuals dealing with acute or chronic pain. Standard medications may not always provide adequate relief or may cause unwanted side effects. Compounding allows pharmacists to combine multiple pain-relieving ingredients—such as anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, and anesthetics—into a single formulation tailored to the patient’s specific condition. These can be delivered in various forms, including topical creams, gels, or transdermal patches, providing targeted relief while minimizing systemic exposure. Whether managing arthritis, neuropathy, or post-surgical pain, compounded medications offer a flexible and effective approach to improving comfort and quality of life.
